MOTY 2017 Entry Enterprise Refit
This is my second entry for the Scifiantasy MOTY contest.
The model is the Polar Lights 1:350 scale Enterprise Refit NCC-1701.
It is built to represent the Enterprise Refit as it appeared in Star Trek The Motion Picture.
The model features multicolored iridescent panel painting on the entire outer hull.
It also features fully detailed and lighted interiors such as the shuttle bay, arboretum, and officers lounge area
complete within scale crew figures throughout.
The model is mounted on a one of a kind display base with a mirrored top to highlight the hull painting details.
The special effect lighting and sounds are operated from the control panel on the base top.
The lighting effects include the amber/blue color changing deflector dish with the impulse crystal that changes color
in unison, the impulse engines, the warp engine chiller grills and special flood lighting on the saucer top and bottom
to light the name and registry number.
There is also a photon torpedo firing effect operated from the control on the base with lights and sound effects.
This one of a kind model and display took me hundreds of hours to build and countless hours of research including
conversations with Mr. Paul Olsen himself who performed the original paint work on the original studio model.
The effort was put in to recreate the most accurate reproduction I could build at 1:350 scale.
