1:24 Studio Scale X-Wing Fighter
We had a chance to talk to Rod from Nexus Model about his new Studio Scale X-Wing Fighter and here is what he had to say!
The X-Wing kit is ready and working fine. It took me quite a while to develop this model due to the electronic wings, which are managed by a software specially written for this purpose, plus an Android cell phone App also designed for the model. It was a lot of trial and error plus a whole new build of the X-Wing. This X-Wing is a completely different model from the one I released back in 2010. The fuselage shape was corrected and is far more accurate than my previous build, thanks to all the reference material I have gathered since I release the first X-Wing.
I have already assembled 2 models, a Red 2 and 4, which I will post on my website as soon as I have time to do it. Due to the complexities of this project, I am a little delayed in every other artistic commission I have received this year, and I need to finish all this stuff before I can officially release the new X-Wing model. I also need to finish the assembly manual for the model as it is absolutely necessary for the correct order of assembly and wire connections inside the fuselage, plus take a lot of pictures of the two builds and some videos of the model lights and wings working.
Since Rouge One was released, many people have contacted me for the new X-Wing model and I have not even released it yet. It is true that I have sold some in order to finance the huge amount of silicone rubber needed for the molds and all the unpaid hours of building the master patterns for casting, but I am amazed the effect Rouge One has had on the X-Wing starship!
I attached some pictures of my Red 4.
We would like to thank Rod for taking the time to talk to us about this kit. And, as more information becomes available about the kit we will let you know. The kit price will be determined when the kit is released.
An update from Rod on the X-Wing here is what he had to say!
Here are some new pics I have been taking of the Red 4 and Red 2 builds.
I hope you like them. I will soon have a video of the Red 4 Model working.
Since you showed my model at your site I have received lots of e-mails! Thanks. But I am still no ready to start selling the kits. I am rebuilding the wing articulation parts and I still have some Snowspeeder commissions to deliver.
I estimate I will be ready to take commissions during March.
