From Games Workshops Warhammer 40k we have the Living Saint Celestine.
This was the figure that really made me want to get the Triumvirate of the Imperium box set. I have a weakness for wings on a model!
Of particular note on this figure is the gold armor. Airbrushed with AK interactive extreme metal gold it was then given an oil wash of Burnt Umber. This was made using some Windsor & Newton distilled turpentine and oil paint, the two are mixed to the desired consistency. The figure is glossed coated then the wash is applied. Some small highlights of silver were added to the edges and corners of the armor.
The scrolls I am very proud of. Time, patience, a small brush and a willingness to sacrifice my eyesight was all that was need to add the details.
I left the base fairly plain as I didn’t want to detract from the figure. I think the sculpt is good enough that it should be the main focus.
Games Workshop continues to make some of the best plastic figures in 28mm scale. And recently they have been putting out some very nice and affordable box sets. The Triumvirate of the Imperium retails at £50 but can be found cheaper from your local store or online retailer for normally 20% cheaper.
