[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Oggie Gonzalez has entered his Y-Wing in the 2018 MOTY Online Contest. Here is what he has to say about the build.

This is a 1/72 scale representation of the Star Wars Y wing. The weathering and chipped effects were done using both the salt/hairspray technique in some areas along with masking fluid in others. The model comes nicely detailed and these were enhanced by applying washes and finishes. Washes were also applied to the plumbing and piping to make some of some of them look rusted and weathered. Surface scorches were done using the Tamiya Weather kit.

The model is displayed in the landed configuration with an open cockpit the scene depicted here is of a maintenance crew working on the ship before a mission. The pilot and astromech droid figures that came with the ship were painted with base colors along with an application of shadows and highlights to give them more realism. Other ground crew figures included in the display base were detailed in the same way and were from a 1/72 Hasegawa ground crew kit.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”grid” images=”15266,15267,15268,15269,15270,15271,15272,15273,15274,15275,15276,15277,15278,15279,15280″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

I have been building models since I was about 8 years old. As many of us did, I picked up the hobby from my father. Without him, I would probably have never known this great hobby. I like to build everything from Military Models to Starships. Right now my passion is to build and light science fiction models.
