Kotobukiya 1/100 Metal Gear Ray.

From Kotobukiya We have the 1/100 Metal Gear Ray from Metal Gear Solid 2.

This kit was a must purchase on release. I built it up then was, at the time completely stumped on how I was going to paint it.

This year I finally decided to give it a go after about 2 years of it sitting on the shelf.

The kit is mostly painted in clears over a silver base, a custom mix of clear blue and a mix of clear yellow and orange for the gold areas.

The honeycomb pattern is made using a stencil. The parts were primed in gloss black first. The stencil was placed then a coat of AK interactive Stainless Steel was sprayed. The clears were applied over that with a gloss coat to seal them in.

There are a lot of decals supplied but I only used a few as I didn’t want to cover up the paintwork.

I have been building models since I was about 8 years old. As many of us did, I picked up the hobby from my father. Without him, I would probably have never known this great hobby. I like to build everything from Military Models to Starships. Right now my passion is to build and light science fiction models.
